So does this impact you getting your daily drink?
Or you have made the switch to local coffee house(s)?
Or you brew coffee at home?
Or you don't drink coffe so who cares anyways?

I don't drink coffee, so I don't care. BUT, I feel badly for the majority of my family members - I really don't know WHAT they're going to do.
I hate to see people lose their jobs, but Starbucks flooded their own market.
I'm a supporter of local coffee shops. My favorite is Cairdeas on Tamm Ave.
jeannette: you are so right, that is a good point. they over expanded.
i've read about Cairdeas but have not been there. I need to give a try one weekend, however for daily coffee it is out of the way for me :(
terra: forgot to tell you, you win "my fav quote of the month" with your "Fun fact: you are not king of the universe"
Don't drink coffee, don't care. They opened too many, so I guess they are the bringers of this doom. And the McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts who figured out how to make cheaper coffee taste just as good (or so people say). And people who started boycotting them for not paying the Ethiopian companies enough for their product.
That is a lot of stores, though.
Don't feel bad for the company, but do feel bad for the people losing their jobs.
It's supposed to be a really good work environment with good benefits and everything. Hopefully they don't cut those out at the stores that will remain open.
Hmm. The Starbucks at 7th and Russell just opened. What a waste. I too, hate that people will lose their jobs, but I also feel sorry for people working at Soulard Coffee Garden, just down the Street. It hasn't been as busy lately. Although I'm guilty of running by Starbucks out of convenience (drive through), I'd much rather enjoy a nice walk up the street to the locally owned shop. I'm really surprised that they're closing so soon.
Also, as much as I hate to admit it, that sugar-free-vanilla-iced coffee at McDonalds is pretty damn good.
Love coffee, and will hit up Starbucks in an airport or if nothing else is available. But seriously, did they think they could sustain the kind of growth they were used to? Support your local coffee shop. Starbucks, really, isn't consistently great coffee. I love Hartford, Carideas, MoKaBe's, Kaldi's, and my own french press, to avoid paying $5.
i rarely go to coffee shops. . . and am most interested in how people even have time to? this interests me more than anything, the time factor.
not to mention the cost factor.
i stick to soda-related caffeine during the week, and jeff brews up a mean pot of coffee on the weekends, and oh how i look forward to those lazy weekend mornings drinking it. . .
