I have a really hard time believing Portland, OR to be at the top of the list. I've never heard a bad word about it. Granted, I'm only talking to former residents or friends of current residents, but still, Portland?

i agree w/ you that's one of the surprise on the list. looks like midwest is generally a pretty depressing region.
