teapot

I love this teapot set, it is so unique and minimalist, making it very cool in my book.

WARM Coffee/Tea Set Walnut (5 pieces)

Unfortunately, even though it is on sale, I still can't afford it. That and don't drink enough fine beverages to justify the purchase.

social media world map

Came across this link from jowyang's twitter.

Social networks: different audiences according to continents'

Click on the map above to see it in full size.

Some translation via babelfish to help decipher the map:

  • Par pays: By country
  • Etats-unis: United States
  • CorĂ©e du Sud: South Korea
  • un quart des inscrits dans le monde: a quarter of the registered voters in the world
  • un tiers des inscrits dans le monde: a third of the registered voters in the world
Some "hmm, wow" moments for me:
  • Despite its popularity in the U.S., Facebook was not listed in the Top 5 in Asia.
  • Orkut's popularity
  • Cyworld and where it ranked in S. Korea AND in Asia
  • How unpopular myspace is in Asia.
Personally, I have accounts in facebook, myspace, orkut, multiply, and Friendster. Friendster is probably the only one that I keep up-to-date and is linked to my friends.

What accounts do you have? Do you use them regularly?

what color walls?

The house has a itty bitty room, roughly 9ft x 7 ft. The previous owners use it has a nursery for their baby. But this is going to all change as I am going to use this as my (to me) gigantic walk in closet.

First I'll need to paint it. It is a currently a very saturated deep blue. Because the room is fairly small, I want to open up the room with a lighter/different color.

Currently, there are colors on almost ALL the walls, with the exception of the 2nd half bath. I plan on repainting the main bath eventually. I'm undecided as to what color I should pick. I personally love green tend to gravitate towards that. But will green be a good color for a closet/room? Should I stick with the traditional off-white? I've more or less narrowed down my selection to light colors with lots of greys in it.

What do you think? Help me pick one by selecting your choice from the poll on the right. Or leave a comment.

icy friday

Wore jeans this morning even though it wasn't jeans days. My slacks don't really go with my Target (Ugg knockoffs) snow boots.

Braved the traffic and went to the office this morning. Other than the two accidents on WB I-44, the commute wasn't bad at all.

Parked my car in the parking garage today as my co-worker is out on vacation.

Ran into the VP of Sales as he was heading to the big blue table with 4 dozens of donuts. Nom nom nom nom.

And at 9.30am, I received a mass email from the VP of HR, telling us that the Chairman/CEO is buying everybody lunch for making it into work today in such a lousy weather.

So far the day hasn't been too bad at all, which is good especially on a Friday.

tagging...

I forgot to tag someone after posting this. So fashion kitteh, I'm tagging you!

curtains, round 2

On another note, I returned the curtains (see original post: curtains). After having them up for a month I decided they are definitely too short and a tad too dark for the room.

This morning I took them down, folded them, and headed off to Kitchen Toilet and More ('tis what I called Bed Bath & Beyond when I first moved to the States and can never remember the name of the store).

I also placed an order for two lighter color 108" panels, and to my delight they allowed me to use the same previous discounts for my purchase today.

These BB&B Newport 108" loooong window panels is schedule to arrive by mail in 2 weeks. I'm excited to see if these will turn out better.

Revlon Molten Metal LE

The Revlon Molten Metal eyeshadow is one lemming that I just could not bring myself to buy because it is almost $10 bucks for a Revlon product. So when I saw it at Target recently with a red price tag on it, I bought it without hesitation.

The actual product is slightly different than pictured below, on the shelf, you can see that the pigments are at the bottom of the tube, mixed with clear liquid that I have no idea what it is. To apply, you'll shake the mixture and use either the wand that comes with it or your fingers.

Today is my first day using it, and the staying power is amazing! The color is vibrant, very blendable but yet dries fast and doesn't streak, smudge, or crease. And most important of all, it doesn't irritate my eyes (I wear RGP contacts, and my eyes can't stand power eyeshadow).

I believe it is going for $6++ at Target. If it is within your budget, do try it out. It is definitely one of the more amazing eye makeup that I've tried on in a while. The last one that I really liked is MAC Fluidlines, which I bought for my wedding more than a year ago.

what color is my parachute?

I supposed it is a good thing that the business unit that I am in are spending money on employee training.

In the past two months, everybody in our business unit (except for the new hires that did not sign up in time) went to a DiSC assessment.

In the last three days, everybody were again, mandated to attend a training called "Creating a culture of Commitment Accountability Workshop".

Except, the more I learned about myself, the more I felt like my current position does not make best use of my skills and does not suit my interests. However, it does push me out of my comfort zone and I am learning a new skill every day.

I was planning on going back to school to get an M.B.A., but in light of this recent findings, I am not sure if I want to go through with that plan anymore.

The thought of another career change does scares me a little. I have spent A LOT of time, energy and tears to get to where I am now.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... how I long to be a child again some days.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Today is Chinese New Year. If I were still in M'sia, I would be:

  • Eating pineapple tart that my auntie made (photo)
  • Receiving red packets (ang pow) from elders
  • Wearing red
  • Watching CNY Gala on TV
  • Covering my ears to block out the loud popping noise from firecracker
But sadly, I am at work, reading friends' blog back home and living vicariously through them.

Review: On The Go Cafe Mocha

I need my caffeine every morning, and am always looking for new coffee to try out. So while I was at Shnucks yesterday, I saw "On The Go" Cafe Mocha on display, with a coupon taped to the front, so I decided to give it a try.

Inside there are 6 (I think) individually packed coffee. It calls for a cup of liquid, either water or milk, for each packet.

I emptied the packet of coffee into my mug, measured 1/2 cup of hot water and 1/2 cup of soy milk and pour it in. The resulting mixture was lumpy and really thick. I then added another 1/2 cup of water to it. So now the consistency is more like a watered down cream of mushroom instead of thick like clam chowder.

Unfortunately I think using the cold milk was a mistake. I had to nuke the coffee for 20 seconds after mixing.

So I declare this a flop. At least for today.

Pros:
Easy, no spilling ground coffee everywhere
Less clean up: mug, spoon, and measuring cup (if used)

Cons:
Taste level does not come close to freshly brewed coffee
Too thick

Alternatives:
Make my own coffee in the morning
Stock up on Starbucks bottled mocha frappuccino lite

cheap and chic

While browsing the net today, I came across some super chic shoes at an incredibly affordable price, I can't wait to go to the store and try them out!

Kayley Patent pump from Payless, I love patent and yellow!
Payless again, these black mary janes are called Jarrett. I can't believe there are sooo many cool shoes at Payless. Sadly, I need another pair of black shoes like I need a hole in my head.
At Target.com, I found these red patent flats Alyssa by Merona. Love the buckle and peep toe for spring and summer. Hopefully these are comfy cause I want them when it gets warmer.
These are all available for under $30. Or, be like me and stalk them, chances are they will be on sale in 2 months time.

And with that, I leave you with a pic of my favorite pair of shoe, a 3.75" Holly Red patent mary janes that I've been lemming for a while.

trash can

This is such a great trash can idea. There are many times where I avoided using Shnucks plastic bags for the bathroom and office trashcan because it looks messy. Now this is the perfect solution.

Unfortunately, it is not available in the States yet.

snow

I was outside at 7pm with my new workout - shoveling snow. Being uber practical, I only shovel a path from the front door to my car, and a "moat" around my car so I'm not standing in deep snow trying to clean the snow off it later.

But I changed my mind, going to work from home instead.
